Seascapes, lakes, and other bodies of water provide beautiful subjects for painters. However, the sights and sounds of moving water in a rocky stream meandering through the woods uniquely excite the senses.

Amish children were leaving the yard and walking toward a nearby barn the day I came upon this scene. Natural flowers and the brightness of the day visually framed the building. My thoughts were to express the appreciation to God that this humble home's residents must feel surrounded by his light and nature. I learned later that it served as a schoolhouse, but the sentiment is still valid for them. I also was drawn to all the varied textures of the building and nature.

Autumn bursts into colors as the curve leads into the scene left by farming to the rolling hills and natural flowers. The vibrant red, orange, and yellow hues create a stunning contrast against the lush green of the pasture.

I look for the spectacular in the simple things. One doesn’t need substantial ocean waves to experience the light and color effects on moving water as it rushes up on shore.

There is so much to see in a nature scene that we usually miss some of its hidden treasures even as its inhabitants are well aware of our presence.

A car show is a chance to admire man’s achievements in automobile mechanics and history or to admire and appreciate their visual design. It is also a place to share stories with friends and younger generations.

Our world has infinite colors, from the most vibrant to the most subdued. With variations and contrasting combinations, nature provides endless inspiration.

Nature gives us wondrous color patterns and texture. The warm light of early autumn dances in the sky and illuminates even the branches of this weathered old tree.

Every second, we are making decisions about something. The choice we make points us in the direction of an unknown future.

I use paints from an art supplier and set them out onto a palette. God had to create His infinite colors to create all we see. I imagine Him tossing bits of elements and colors in the wind that He later organized into something extraordinary. This painting reflects the beauty and diversity of the natural world and the artist's role in capturing and interpreting this beauty.

I use my imagination as an artist and ask what form and color may have looked like after God said, “Let there be light,” and before He may have decided the apple would be red. This painting might represent ideas of raw material we know later because of form and its assigned color. The use of vibrant colors and abstract forms in this painting aims to evoke a sense of raw, unformed beauty of creation, inviting contemplation on the origins of life and matter.

I can’t imagine a more awesome subject to inspire the use of color and light than an autumn landscape.

I passed this curious scene and just snapped a picture to show my wife. The bright green of the still unidentified foliage puzzled me as it was late autumn and most of the leaves on the trees had turned brown and already fallen. The freshness of this first snowfall only added to that mystery. Within a day or two the green gave way to all browns.

A nature center is a beautiful place to feel tranquility. The birds, butterflies, flowers, and plants help soothe the spirit.

The repeated patterns of the clouds broken by the water's surface and the contrasting colors were fantastic. This small bay, with its fishing camps and boats, reminds us of our place at the nearby lake.

The sheer enormity of this Packard struck me. It looked so heavy and bold as it rested on unlevel ground. The delicate Monarch butterfly on the bumper adds tension and interest to the drawing.

If one ever spends much time fishing on a lake, in a boat, late in the day, especially when it starts raining, this experience may resonate. The sound of raindrops on the water, the smell of the damp earth, and the sight of the soft, diffused light create a serene and reflective atmosphere. But it can be more than the literal suggestion. Any light, truism, or ideal may lead you out of despair or trouble.

A bright sky is always behind a dark, stormy one.

It was a Sunny day in Salisbury Center, NY, as we rested under a tree in the park next to the last covered bridge in Herkimer County. The sounds of the moving water on the rocks, the birds singing, and the soft, warm breeze were soothing. This tranquil setting inspired this painting, inviting contemplation on the beauty and serenity of nature.

This seasonably warm late winter day revealed an outlet from a still-frozen Adirondack lake, giving hope that spring is near.

On our way to another fishing spot around the bend we switched to a quiet trolling motor so we would not disturb the peaceful scene and more importantly the rightful residents.

For the faithful, the phrase 'let there be light' holds profound meaning. But what did that light reveal at the dawn of creation? Were these the building blocks of life and matter, floating in a cosmic dance, yet to take their final form? This painting invites us to ponder the mysteries of existence.

We almost did not climb as the visibility was poor, but when we made it to the Summit, the sky soon cleared, but not before I captured this scene. On our way up, we also passed a wedding party and its bride, in her long white dress and heels, as they made their way down the rocky path from the summit.

May you find moments of peace like this. The butterfly's delicate beauty and graceful movements reminded me of life's fleeting nature and the importance of finding peace in the present moment.

The hard lesson for the faithful is that we are not forsaken even when we feel so. It is just that hardship is unavoidable.

An overcast sky along this Adirondack foothills river helped capture a peaceful mood.

The Adirondacks have fantastic geographic subjects. The variety of textures and colors is endless.

I love how water washes over the shoreline rocks to reveal all the beautiful colors.

Creation depends on imagination. We are influenced by our experiences and our reality but that imagination pushes the boundaries to something new that might only exist in our minds.

On a walk past a neighbor late one day, I noticed the clouds seeming to roll under the much higher cloud formations. The sky was very bright, but not bright enough without the sun to illuminate the pasture where the sheep were grazing.

A completely rusted 1948 Ford Super Deluxe in need of restoration now reflects the sunlight and clouds again in this pencil drawing. No need for sandpaper, dust masks, or paint.

One man is proud of his automobile, one man is proud of his work to make a custom top for this Packard, and his masterpiece shining new again makes this a memorable moment.

One gets quite a view of sunsets and cloud formations while in a boat on a lake. There is always more time in the day, as we want to soak up every second. Besides, the fish were still biting!

Life and time constantly move like a fast-moving train. We can feel the vibrations in our bones.

This little creature us as we sat under the pergola hoping for nuts and seeds. On this day, it stopped, perhaps sensing a nearby Osprey or anticipating a playful friend may surprise him for a chasing game.

Ever climbing and reaching to better ourselves in one way or another lead to unimaginable heights.

Autumn still has the warmth of summer as the breeze passes over me.

Whatever the barrier to success, health, faith, or desire, we can overcome it with hope, hard work, and determination.

If we can hold on to our vibrant spirit, there is still a bright future in our later years.

Remembrance and appreciation for triumphs over adversity and being happy is life-affirming.

Victory over adversity leads to exhilaration, followed by gratitude for the experience that made it meaningful.

If one’s passion is lifegiving and sound - it aligns with a feeling of joy. And if one starts with a joyous heart, their passions grow, and the joy becomes contagious.

Being cheerful and hopeful in hard times is a superpower.

We must stick to what we do until the end. Keep working toward the goal of knowing that in time, we will succeed.
